A tvN/Netflix historical epic by writer Kim Eun-sook, set in late-1800s Joseon as Korea is pulled into the Japanese empire's orbit. A boy born a slave escapes to America, returns as a U.S. Marine Corps officer (Lee Byung-hun), and falls in love with an aristocrat-turned-resistance fighter. Lavish production design made many of its locations instant tourist sites.
